Where the Light Gathers

Aria M. Goldendale

A slow-burning novel of coastlines and second chances, told in the hour before the lamps come on.

02The masthead

Four voices, one house.

The writers of Agraphos — novelists of the Midwest, the coast, the past, and the very late night.

Nathan Andrew Wilson

Wilson writes about the upper Midwest — its weather, its silences, and the people who stay. The Long Winter of Sparrow Creek is his first novel, and it reads like a kitchen light left on across a frozen field.

Aria M. Goldendale

Goldendale writes luminous, slow-burn fiction about coastlines, second chances, and the physics of longing. She collects lighthouse stamps and answers every reader's letter by hand.

Andrew P. Waterson

A historian by training, Waterson writes meticulously researched fiction set where the maps end and myth begins. He drafts on a 1952 typewriter and edits, mercifully, by computer.

Historical fiction — St. Paul, Minnesota

The Cartographer's Daughter + a new work in progress…
A.K. Dryver

Dryver writes precise, punishing thrillers about signal and noise. Dryver does not give interviews, appears at festivals only in silhouette, and answers mail exclusively in the winter.

Foxes, owls and deer among the ferns — a storybook forest, unwritten until you color it.

04The colophon

Why “agraphos”?

ἄγραφος — Greek, adjective: unwritten. Not empty; waiting. We chose the name because every book begins as nothing until a writer, and then a reader, sets it down.

Agraphos Publishing is a small independent house. We keep our list short on purpose: a handful of novels each season, and a coloring library built for slow afternoons. Every edition is printed and bound in the United States, designed on a real desk, and shipped by people who have read the book you're holding.

We answer letters. We don't chase trends. We believe a book is one of the last objects that asks nothing of you except an evening.
